Light-A-Tree

December is a month when people of all ages appreciate colored lights on a tree. Just like the Jewish tradition of Hanukkah. But as early as November, christmas lights are decorated on every Filipino house. In our case, our school had an early celebration of lights on acacia trees, and unluckily will end on December 5, how ironic would that be when the yuletide season is just approaching?
Well, it was exciting.. students, teachers and some parents are anticipating this colorful school event, which is already a tradition. Each council and special program will decorate acacia trees with lights or belen and worry about our electric bill after the festive event end.
Why light trees? Should I say the prelude to christmas celebration.. And Christmas is the celebration of the coming of the Light of the World! The only reason for this season!

It Isn't Enough

It isn't enough to help other people
When it doesn't give us personal satisfaction,
It isn't enough to sacrifice for your loved ones
If it doesn't give us self fulfillment,
It isn't enough to say in our minds
That we're growing tired of our situation,
It isn't enough to feel imbittered
If we can't get out of our hole,
It isn't enough to complain
When nobody will ever hear,
It isn't enough to cry
When no more tears is left to dry,
It isn't enough that we fill our minds
With words we never can utter,
It isn't enough to say its through
When there's so much more to do,
It isn't enough that we end this life
When somebody made you feel important,
It isn't enough 'til its over
If in heaven we can't enter,
Its always isn't enough...
'Cause it will never be enough!

Ninoy&Cory

True Love
Aug 21, '09 4:21 PM for everyone

Its a holiday today! A day to remember NInoy's true love to his country, good governance, integrity, freedom, democracy and courage to face self- enriched politicians, even death but most of all true love to his family!

ahh.. its really heart warming to witness such story of love, even the top-grossing film cannot be compared to this!

Let me share a message I received that goes this way..
Cory Aquino died August 1, 2009 at 3:18 in the morning. That's 08-01-2009 3:18. Remove the 0's and put the numbers together. The result is 8129318. Rearrange the numbers, .. the result is 8-21-1983! That's August 21, 1983, the day Ninoy Aquino died!

Coincidence? I say that's TRUE LOVE! Love until death they were meant to be!
Kailan kaya dadating ang true love ko? hahaha...!

Basketball is Life

Basketball is Life!
Aug 9, '09 8:49 PM for everyone (source: Multiply account)

Basketball, a sport of physical challenges, battle of mental toughness, discipline, courage and passion for the game! Though I'm not a basketeer, I really love to watch and enjoy every bounce of the ball, as well as how each athlete handles and reacts to every possesion.
I remember how my mother reacted to my "addiction" of watching basketball games, "panlalaki 'yan e!" and I reacted with a question " bakit may nakasulat bang for male viewers only?". Later, she, as well became a fan of Purefoods, specifically Alvin Patrimonio and eager to watch with me live basketball whenever there is an out-of-town games.
Blame it on my brothers, who dragged me into this sport! My older brother always asked to watch him play at every corner of our barangay or at a bar to watch the PBA finals.. and my younger brother who I used to play one-on-one..
Through watching the games, I became a fan of "The Director", "The Triggerman" in the PBA and Isaiah Thomas, "His Airness" of the NBA. Later, Penny, Starks, Iverson, Ravena, Racela, Yap, PJ..and so on...It always bring a smile and elation to watch these guys, enjoying life for a moment of their triumph, loss and injuries.
Just like in life, we are facing facing physical challenges of waking up early and sleeping late at night to do paper works, be of good courage to face life's challenges, mentally stable to solve everyday problems, and have passion for our job to enjoy it! Our life is like a bouncing ball, sometimes we're up, sometimes we're down and our fate depends on our ball handler..

It Happens

It Happens
Jul 23, '09 7:54 AM for everyone (source: Multiply account)

Why is it that my job is to mold the future of teenagers?
It just happened, eventhough I took Medical Technology in the first three years in college, I graduated a degree in Secondary Education...

Why is it that I teach high school chemistry and heads the co-curricular activities?
It just happened, nobody wanted to teach chemistry! I happen to enjoy coaching and supporting co-curricular affairs of my students..

Why is it that I am left to take care of my aging parents and my twin nephew and niece?
It happened since I am the only one left at home...

Why is it that I am still single?
It happened, maybe, I let it happen?...

Why is it that married people act like they are still single?
It is happening, since they prioritize their jewelries, cellphones, barkadas and recreation.

Why is that people have problems?
It happens when we rely on ourself alone

Why is it that I feel sick of this life, fed up with responsibilities, almost fading away spiritually and emotionally?
It happens its just a feeling. As a human being I do feel like this sometimes since I would like to have an easy, comfortable, care-free life...

Why is it that I am complaining in this site?
I feel better when I happen to write what I feel..

Why do birds still sing even when there are storms?
It happens because that's how they were created..

How can I sing like a bird when storms in life come?
It happens when I am reminded that "Everything happens for a reason!" Though I don't understand the reasons for some of my (above) questions, I am positive, it will be revealed soon! I trust my creator to streghthen and give me wisdom to know and acept His will...

Omnicient God

Omnicient
Jul 16, '09 8:04 AMfor everyone

Problems arise in whatever situation we are in, wherever we are and whoever we are and the degree of facing it varies as well. The end of our human abilities is our opportunity to turn to God reminding ourselves "When I come to the end of my rope, God is there to take over".
It is really good to know that we have a GOD who knows:
1. us (Psalms 103:14)
2. our needs (Mathew 6:8)
3. our heart (Acts 15:8)
4. our cries (Psalms 145:19)
5. our deeds (Revelation 2:2)
6. our desires (Psalms 20:4)
7. our mind (Psalms 94:3)
8. our future (Jeremiah 29:11)
Are we brave enough to face or solve our problems knowing that we have an omnicient God?
much said
Jul 7, '09 11:18 PMfor everyone

Stupid me! Did I say much or said less? I regret that I have spoken; never that I have been silent!
People would say more if its already the end of the rope, patience have been tried many times and fed up with situations.
How could one say he/she care, if it does not show? Just don't say it, do it! If someone cares, support should be evident..you may say it a hundred times it is nothing if not acted upon!
When you feel moved to express an opinion, weigh the impact of your words and keep this thought in mind," The less said, the best said." We can't get in trouble

Lalong tumitindi ang nadarama.
Kung di ikaw, bakit narinig kitang kumanta,
Dahil dyan lagi-lagi kitang naaalala.

I Don't Want To

I dont want to
Jun 28, '09 8:30 PMfor everyone

I don't want to to see you,
You might notice I tremble.
I don't want to be near you,
You might feel my heart beats faster.
I don't want to talk to you,
You might hear my quivering voice.
I don't want to look in your eyes,
You might notice I'm falling for you.
I don't want to hear you sing a song,
It might be stuck in my brain forever.
I don't want to see you smile,
I might be smiling all day.
I don't want to let go of this feeling,
It inspired me all these years.
I dont want to wait in vain for love,
Someday, I know, this feeling will be mutual.

Typhoon Frank and Flood

frank and flood
Jun 21, '09 3:18 AMfor everyone

Its already a year after typhoon frank and 6-feet of muddy flood flashed on us! I wasn't supposed to revisit the tragic event but it reminded me of how God has calmed the storms of our lives and the strength God granted us to move on and start all over again..
I also scanned the pages of my sort of diary I've written from June 20 up to June 23, 2008. Let me share a piece of it: "June 20 - There was a brownout early evening and after midnight due to heavy rains..June 21 - Still brownout and stormy. Flood water started to fill up the house in a millisecond after lunch, until only two steps of the stairs to the second floor was seen. Three families were in our house all soaked with rain and muddy flood water and we shared a pot of rice and few pieces of dried fish ('uga'). June 22-23 - Still calf-high of mud and no sun was seen in the sky eventhough it was not raining. No electricity, no phone signal and a little of food".. It was nauseating to see and smell mud for almost two weeks, and after that tons of dusts everywhere!...
During these days, we asked: " Is it the worst disaster or just a preview of the worst to come? Is it a "delubyo', the end of the world?
Some thought so since it happened on June 21 (June is the 6th month of the year), in Region 6 and the flood is due to typhoon Frank (F is the 6th letter of the alphabet). What does it suggest? 666!
It is for us to examine our lives.. are we ready for the end of the world? Trust God through His son Jesus Christ and we will be ready anytime at world's end..

A Bird Story

a bird story
Jun 13, '09 6:54 AMfor everyone

Once there was a bird, a bird who was left a task;
A task so hard to do, but still continues to;
Feeding nestlings, support and protect all day through!

Years have passed, but still she do;
A job she was not supposed to do!
She lives in nest that was left by parents who;
The nestlings never been with their whole life through!

A bird that is supposed to be free,
Flying everywhere she wants to be
But encaged with a big responsibility!

Since the parents cannot provide the nestlings needs;
She would go from nest to nest to survive a life;
At the end of each day, she would ask;
"When will this end, when will it last?"

Addicted to Tears

Addicted to Tears
Jun 3, '09 10:22 PM for everyone (from Multiply account)

Shedding tears is a way of cleansing our eyes and emotions. Is crying an addiction? In my case, I think it is!...by crying due to watching a japanovela late night, anticipating "a liter of tears" to run down my cheeks. In short, I'm addicted to the good looking japanese actors/actresses plus the heart-warming true story of a 15-year old girl having spinocerebellar degenerative disease (not to mention my addiction to "dribbling giants").
In a way I'm inspired to teach, to live life because of this telenovela that depicts the struggles of a high school student to cope up with the crippling symptoms (aired over GMA from May 25-June 19,2009). How it affects the people around her, and the love and support of her family and friends. She continued to smile and inspire others even with her helpless condition, how much more us who are perfectly healthy but is sick of life's problems

At last! use of technology is prominent in the School of the Future.. thanks to the supportive parents and the hardworking program head of IHNS-SOF.
Acess to the net is in our table in the cozy atmosphere of the faculty room to send our lesson, assignments and other information to our students. Volume of paper will be less around us due to homework will be sent through e-mail. ICT Lib, Weather and space, and robotics will be within our reach in the next five years (hopefully), what will be the role of the teachers, then? ahh, we'll be there to facilitate learning of our students!

Life's Purpose

Life's purpose
May 24, '09 1:21 AMfor everyone

After church, I scribble along an old notebook wherein I jotted in my realizations, my feelings on something. The pages are turning yellowish brown and crisp, the wrtiings are starting to fade. Some of it I have already wriiten in this blog to make it last a bit longer (hopefully). I have a lot of scrapbooks before, unfortunately it was destroyed due to rain, flood, termites..
This is my way of comforting myself after a disappointment: Wanting something really bad but I did not get it! Reading Rick Warren's A Purpose Driven LIfe was an inspiration, here are some points that I meditated upon:
1. Its Not About Me. Life's failures, sorrows, disappointments, problems is Not about me or because of me: It is about God's plan for me! It all happen because of God's plan to be revealed to us if we patiently wait for it. More than that, God has planned something better for us! It's not what we want that God grants us but its is what God wants for us that He reveals!
Oftentimes, we think God is a genie who will grant us our wishes in an instant or we take our own step and let God follow us.
2. I am Not an accident. Acceptance is hard especially when you want something to happen! but it will be easy if you entrust it to God according to His plan in our lives. We exist because we are part of the masterful craft of God with a specific purpose.
We think we are unlucky.. we must not think of luck or fate as our mark to succeed! It should be based on our faith in God and hope in God's plan for us!
3. Living on Purpose is the Path to Peace. Purpose or objective is important in whatever we do. What is my purpose in teaching? in going to church? in communicating to God? in living? We are to unravel it by reading God's word or listening to His words..
One thing is true, God is the main purpose why we live here on earth and will live with Him in heaven.

Success versus Failure

success vs. failure
May 19, '09 4:59 AMfor everyone

Here I go again, typing what's on my mind.. my modern - day diary: blogging!
But, I don't know where to start,.. thoughts just "rushing" to my mind if I will not keep myself busy. If I just sit down doing nothing or lay my head on a pillow even if I'm not sleepy, boom!..tons of thoughts! Actually, there are a lot of work to be done when at home, I'm just too lazy to do such stuff.. I feel better watching tv/movie,or listen to music...surfing the net..
I am thinking, Is 10 years of teaching a gauge for success? Is that already an achievement? or still a failure? Am I worrying or am I contented with what I achieved?
Well, I don't know the secret to success but " the key to failure is to try ro please everyone"! People will always have an opinion about what we say or do. If we mind the opinion of others, then, we are a failure!
We should learn to look up for inspiration, for strength, for hope that continued success will be ours..Not sideways or around us, it will only bring us desperation, our nothingness compared to them, our limitations, our failures!... But to bown down and live our lives according to words of the Bible - God's opinion! Success is not always the key to happiness!
" Guilt is concerned with the past. Worry is concerned about the future. Contentment enjoys the present"

Walk by Faith

Walk by Faith
May 14, '09 9:43 AM for everyone

Sometimes I'm sad, I know not why
My heart is sore distressed;
It seems the burdens of this world
Have settled on my heart.
And yet i know...I know that God
Who doeth all things right
Will lead me thus to understand
To walk by faith.. not sight!
And though I may not see the way
He's planned for me to go...
That way seems dark to me just now
But oh, I'm sure He knows!
Today He guides my feeble step
Tomorrow's in His right...
He has asked me to never fear...
But walk by faith... not sight.
Some day the mists will roll away,
The sun will shine again.
I'll see the beauty in the flowers,
I'll hear the bird's refrain.
And then I'll know my Father's hand
Has led the way to light
Because I placed my hand in His
And walked by FAITH.. not SIGHT!

Something Good

Something Good
May 16, '09 8:17 AMfor everyone
Wouldn't this world be better,
If folks whom we meet would say,
"I know something good about you",
And treat you just that way?
Wouldn't it be splendid,
If each handshake, good and true,
Carried with it this assurance:
"I know something good about you?"
Wouldn't life be happier,
If the good that's in us all,
Were the only thing about us
That people would recall?
Wouldn't our days be sweeter,
If we praised the good we see?
For there is a lot of goodness,
In the worst of you and me!
Wouldn't it be fine to practice,
This way of thinking too;
You know something good about me,
I know something good about you?

Worry-free life

Casting all cares to God is a Worry-free life
Apr 21, '09 8:28 AMfor everyone

Have you thought of your problems lately? What will happen in the future after this economic crisis? What will happen to your life after school, work or retirement? Have you started to worry on something, or all things?
Some worry about what might be said. Others worry about what hasn't been said. Some worry about what might happen. Others worry about what hasn't happened which should have happened by now. Others worry about their future while others fret over the consequences of their past actions. (Sadly more than 1 applies to me)
"Worry is like a rocking chair: It gives you something to do, but does'nt get you anywhere!" Worry just gives us headaches, wrinkles, loneliness, more problems.. Indeed, according to a song don't worry, be happy! Smile often it lightens your feelings of "carrying the whole world" thing..
We were created to live abundant lives in our mind, our body, and our spirit. Like a flower we were meant to blossom, not to wither on the vine.
Life gives us second chances, to learn from our mistakes! We should not worry instead put Jesus in charge of your worries. "Casting the whole of your care- all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all - on Him; for He cares for you affectionately, and cares about you watchfully. - I Peter 5 :7 AMP"

Worship

Worship: an act of love
Apr 10, '09 7:13 AMfor everyone

If we love God, we are to worship Him! How can we worship Him if don't allow people to see how we loved our creator and savior, Jesus Christ!
What is worship?
..... it is a moral imperative of human beings!...
...... it is a concept as well as a relationship!...
---- it is both an attitude and an act!...
---- it is like love; an expression of a relationship!
---- it is spirit-led reaction to what we believe God has said and done!
Who is GOD that merits the unequivocal worship of humanity?
--- Holy One in the midst of Thee (of Us)!
__ He answers those who call to Him and forgives their wrongdoings!
__ Intimate presence that prompts heartfelt praise and worship and keen desire for holy living!
--- He ules forever!
--- King and Redeemer
--- Alpha and Omega
--- The One truly omnipotent God!
--- Majestic in power!
--- The Lord GOd greater than all gods!
Indeed, from the lyrics of the praise song, "Who am I compared to your glory, Your majesty?" I am a sinner yet Christ died for me!
Do I deserve the love of God? Do I worhip Him right? Is God or my worship in God seen by people? Am I a stumbling block to fellow worshippers? Am I tired of worshipping God?
I kind of asking myself these questions in the past few weeks/months/years...well....trying to find the answers....

God bless you fellow worshippers!...

God's Love

God's Love: a reflection for Holy Week '09
Apr 9, '09 12:39 AMfor everyone (via multiply.com)

Since I was a young people (even a sunday school student) at church, I am reminded of the kinds of love (whether its a lecture on LCM on february or on Holy Week) : filial, eros, or agape. Most importantly discussed is Agape- God's Love!

How will I describe God's Love?
1. HE Reveals... (Psalms 103:6-7) He revealed His plans trough a lot of biblical heroes like:
(a) Moses - God revealed His love through His provisions, His directions, His plans and promise to the Israelites of a land flowing with milk and honey.
(b) Joseph (my favorite biblical hero) - who was traded by his brothers but because of God's love, he sent Joseph to Egypt to reveal His perfect plan to support his family for a coming famine..
(c) David - who was a "nobody" among his brothers, but God's love revealed that although he was young and a shepherd, he was annointed to be a King.
God has perfect plans to be revealed to us, all we have to do is to search and accept God 's love, waiting with faith for the perfect time it will be granted to us!

2. He Satisfies... (Psalms 103:5)
As little children, we want the best toys, clothes that will satisfy us. But God's love satisfies us, not of wealth and riches but we know God is always there to provide us our NEEDS, to heal our diseases, to guide and protect us!

3. His Love Encompasses all... (Psalms 103:8)
As I was/is/will be taking care of my niece/nephew, I am thinking will they love me back? One thing is for sure, I am hopeful that when they grow up, I will experience their love!
That is God's love, eventhough we are stubborn, He still loves us! God knows we will love Him because He first loved us!

4. He forgives... (Psalms 103:3)
Human as we are, eventhough we have asked for forgiveness, we continue to be sinners and we can't even forgive those who have sinned against us. But God's love is different- He forgives! We feel guilty that God will punish us for our sins, but He didn't - He suffered on the cross for us and continues to forgive and forgive us...!

5. His Love lasts forever... (Psalms103:15-18)
God's love gives us happiness, satisfaction that will last forever!
God choses us from among the people, so let us love the LOrd with all our hearts, with all our strength and with all our might! Let us say to the Lord: "love you so much, JESUS, love you so much!"

You might feel (like I do), sometimes, left out, unloved, unnoticed..but that does not mean you're alone! You have friends who stand by you, family who care for you and support you, and of course a God who loves you! Isn't that the most important in life?

- a lass, discovering herself and developing attitudes!
- a bird, free to fly..away! anywhere that i would want to be supported and protected by fellow winged buddies!
- a fish, swimming freely in the lowest part of the ocean! belonging to a school..
- a statue or a landmark, immovable, strong and steady in all seasons! looked up by everybody..
- a star, bringing light, colors and life to everyone! distant..undisturbed
- a baby, to be held by a HAND...protected and loved!
BUT I'm not a baby, a child, a lass, etc..
I'm an individual with wishes and dreams!

The Why's of Life

Why?
Mar 15, '09 3:32 AMfor everyone

Why is it that people without a stable job and an own house have a lot of mouths to feed, while those who have jobs and own a house and lot does not have someone to call their own?
Why is it that often times we like to talk to friends and listen to gossip, while at home we have a lot to talk with and listen to?
Why is it that those who are willing to work are not given the job, but those who do not like to work have some and get bored?
Why is it that things that are free are things less appreciated and thanked, well, in fact they are the most important?
Why is it that people living with simple lives are the happiest?
Whys is that people who do not deserve an award or recognition receive an incentive?
Why is it that lazy people become industrious for ranking and get promoted?
Why is that quiet people abused in their workplace?
Why are cheaters and dishonest individual get high grades and highest positions?
Why? Why? Why? A lot of "whys".
So many questions in my mind(and our minds), but the answer is within us... God is the answer!

Away from Here

away from here
Mar 12, '09 7:59 AM for everyone (via Multiply)

People of all walks of life experience dismay, success, joy and grief.. That does not exempt me, of course!
Eversince I was young, I enjoy or clamour about little tasks assigned to me. Now that I've grown up, my responsibilities also grew!
Whew!.., In school, I feel I'm always assigned to do a lot of stuff! I don't know if I'll be happy about that or be mad!.. I'm happy that I can be trusted, that I feel I am responsible but sad because there are lot of workers amongst us and yet I have to do the job!..Can I walk away? At home, I have the responsibility to my parents and to my niece and nephew! Do the laundry, do the dishes, sometimes cook, clean the house, tutor the twins, prepare their wardrobe,..can I just fly away? In church, record the minutes of the meeting (I'm done with counting monetary offerings & sing with the band), lead in singing & worship, can I just go away?
I guess, I just can't run away with these responsibilities.. these tasks assigned to me are predetermined by my creator! I have to live a purpose-driven life and be inspired by people who appreciate what I do!

Being a MOM

"Being A Mom"
Nov 10, '08 7:40 AM for everyone

Every woman dreams to be a mom, the essence of being a woman is to be one! (Thanks to Sushmita Sen..this quotation became a phenomenon).
Unfortunately today, young women (or old maids) take this challenge as a gauge that their not biologically impotent..through pre-marital sex or trying to have experience on sex. Not thinking of the responsibilities that goes with pregnancy and being a mother.. taking care of the baby, providing basic needs, spending more time with the child and thinking about the future..
A modern woman, would like be a mother but not a wife..
A woman with a heart of a man would like to be a mom through artificial insemination and a surrogate mother..
A boyish, no boyfriend since birth woman would like to be mother through a married man..
A teenager dreams of becoming a mother and having pre-marital sex at 12..
An old maid would like to be a mom through adoption...
A single, wealthy woman would like to have the best child through a sperm bank..
Whatever situation we are in, we are moms in our own rights..
... being the eldest daughter
--- an aunt
--- a friend
--- a teacher
----Doing the best that we can offer to a child: love, care, our time & effort to help them be good moms (and dads) in the future!
Kudos to those single aunts and sis! (like me!) Have more patience..(even if ...)

parenting

We recently have a parent-teacher conference, I realized that a parent and a teacher are on the same boat.
As a teacher, we have parental control over our students while in school. We have to discipline them, correct their acts and guide them not just teach them lessons in all subject areas. Just like biological parents do at home. Parents as well were the first teachers.
But sometimes, students act differently in school, some are industrious due to incentives or their afrraid of their teachers, some are talkative since they cannot speak up at home, some seek attention from teachers and classmates since they are left out at home, some are lazy to do tasks in school since they have a lot of responsibilities at home or none at all.
Its quite amusing to know that students would believe or obey their teachers rather than their parents in certain situation, Like my niece and nephew at home who will not follow what I say but reply to me "hambal ni ma'am.." , that I would say " ti, ma'am man ako", in that case I'm the parent not the teacher!
Whatever situation the students are in, parents and teachers should work hand in hand since the teachers are the eyes - and - ears of parents in school to hone the totality of students' personalities.

Communication

Communication is the Key

Communication: a very important means to understand one another.
There are lot of ways to communicate: a phone, a computer, a note left in a refrigerator or side table, a gesture using parts of our body. But oftentimes, we prefer to use this means, neglecting the BEST WAY to communicate: to sit down with someone open your heart out in talking and opening ears to listen..
Talking and listening (not just hearing) is a way to express our self, what we really mean. And it starts at home, wherein communication is very important. If communication line is open, members of the family will feel free to express her/himself: love, hate, insecurity, depression, loneliness, happiness, anger, pain,etc..
Therefore, parenting is very crucial during the tender age of children wherein they learn to speak and listen to others. Showing that communication line is open to them by their parents and siblings, later in life, they will be willing to share what is happening to them in school, work and in all aspects of their life.
According to an advertisement, the more often parents talk to their children, the less often they are to smoke, drink and try drugs. Since children feel loved at home, they will not seek it from friends and other people outside their homes.
So, start communicating NOW..during eating dinner together or a family affair in the beach, mall or just in a sofa..before its too LATE!
