Pitch Fever

Pitch Fever
Jul 6, '10 8:24 AMfor everyone via multiply

Whether its in the diamond field, in the octagon ring or a rectangular covered court, none by far is being given attention to than the pitch! It's the start of FIFA World Cup 2010 semi-finals in South Africa. Well, its less popular than PBA games in its quarterfinals, but the world is in antipation who will make it to the Finals! Who is not familiar of the names Pele', Maradona, Ronaldo, Beckham? These are world-renowned names in football!
I myself is asking will it be the heavily favored Spain-Netherlands match in the finals or Germany- Uruguay? Will it be Spain-Uruguay or the Germans vs the Dutch?
At the start of the games, I was rooting for Argentina, Brazil and eager to watch the English and the Americans. But as the tournament is at its finality the highly favored team Espanya and the experienced Germany is a much talked about series.
Team Spain, known for its scorers David Villa and Fernando Torres will again dominate their opponent's goal through side attacks. Xavi will maximize the midfiled and the defenders, Gerard Pique and Joan Capdevilla will be on guard. While the experienced Iker Casillas will extend his wingspan to cover the goal.
While the winningest team Germany will be losing its young, rising star, Thomas Muller in the semis, but hopeful he can still play before the World Cup ends! Germany is a team blended with experienced players and young blood proving themselves equal with their seniors. Bastian Schweinsteiger, Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski will attack the goal of the Spaniards with might! Together with Ballack, Lahn and Gomez, they will overthrow their opponents in transition.
In the Netherlands-Uruguay match which will start 2am tomorrow, I'd pick Uruguay since among the four, they are the underdogs!(that is how I see it). But they are a "team of fighters", the last of the 16 teams to qualify in the World Cup and will be the last left to fight! I admire the most in the team is the young, hardworking keeper, Nestor Fernando Muslera. How many goals did he concede? With the help of the defender Jorge Fucile, the forwards: Sebastian Abreu, Diego Forlan and Luiz Suarez as well as the midfielder Gonzalez.
From the Dutch, notable is the forward-top scorer Klaas Jan Huntelaar, midfielder Mark Van Bommel and Wesley Sneijder as well as the defender John Heitinga.
Have a good fight for your country! You are all winners!

Friends: standers or runners

Friends: standers or runners
Mar 1, '10 9:27 AMfor everyone
Let me share this blog post I have written for Purefood Fans Home. This also mean that a fan is an absentee/unknown/casual friend that could either be a stander or a runner.
Here it goes:
As a basketball fan, I would like to point out that there are two types of Fans: the RUNNERS and the STANDERS. Check it out.
Some (if not most of ) of the purefoods fans estivated after the 2006 AFC trophy and point a finger to the briliant, good-looking young coach. Questions about his coaching abilities arise, indecisions on trading players, highly sticking on a play for Kerby and James only, his relation to Gov. Pardo why he still remain as coach even after the team's lousy performance in the succeeding years! Can we really call these people fans/supporters? or mere critics? They are pointing out that criticisms were made to let the mangement know how they feel and change might be made! Hell of comments in forums and various sites. Now that PF is in the Finals, lots of them claim that they are PF fans! Funny and it seems awkward..These are what you call RUNNER FANS, they're there when there's victory and abandoning the team when in peril.
Kudos to those fans who almost lost their voices cheering, spend money for the tarpauline, shed a tear for losses, bowed heads in prayer, jump for joy in triumph and a heart full of belief in the Giants! They who ran into trouble or debate protecting/supporting the players, the coaches, and the management. They who all these years have been loyal fans. They are the STANDER FANS who will stick to the team no matter the circumstances are, whether they're near or far, absent in the venue or present all the time, whether their voices can be heard or not. Though maybe disappointed at times but they can be relied upon through their support. MABUHAY mga kaparokya! Job well done!
What kind of a friend are you? A stander who sticks with a friend through thick and thin or a Runner who will leave a friend hanging when in trouble. If we cannot be a good friend or find it difficult to find one, we have a friend in Jesus!

Expectations

Expectations, we all have them!
As the New Year starts, we expect that we will have a better year than before. We expect people to change, forgetting that we should change, as well. We expect we will have successful career, that is better pay or higher position. We expect we will have great relationships, faithful friendships, better health, easy and happy life.
But what do we do when life doesn't live up to our expectations? We easily get discouraged and ask God why?! Many of us haven't live up to our expectations, a huge part of our lives centers around anticipation when God will grant us what we expected. We anticipate life's enjoyment not sorrow, fun not challenges, celebration not disppointment or comfort not sacrifice.
As we begin this year to have a better ending, let us dwell on our HOPE instead of hopelessness, FAITH instead of dismay, LOVE instead of anger, anticipation of God's will instead of expected sorrow because our God will keep us strong in achieving our expectations!

Disappointed Fan

In my previous blogs, I have written how I become a basketball fan. As an avid basketball fan, my favorite team is the Purefoods TJ Giants. The interesting thing about being a Giants fan is that the team has a way of letting us down. They have won several championships but lately ending up in the wildcard phase even with a powerhouse shooters, defenders and advantage in height in almost all positions. And while they are promising as a team at the beginning of each conference, they usually disappoint their loyal fans at the end of the elimination round. I guess, that's the way it is! If they didn't disappoint us, they wouldn't be our Giants!
Thankfully, God is not like the Giants! You can count on Him. He will not disappoint you in the end. He will always keep His promises, and His Word provides comfort, joy, hope and wise advise that never fails!
